About the blue colour
In the RGB colour model, blue is one of the three primary colours.
It symbolizes the sky and the sea.
Blue pigments are made from minerals, especially lapis lazuli and azurite and plants. It has many shades like navy blue, cobalt blue, azure, sky blue, ultramarine, aquamarine or indigo.
Blue has been an important colour in art and decoration since ancient times. In ancient cultures, blue was associated with the sky and with divinity.
Before the 12th century, blue wasn't used many times in paintings because it was the most expensive pigment. Its popularity began in the Middle Ages when painters started to paint blue clothing for the Virgin Mary and king, so blue became a holy and royal colour.
The psychology of blue colour
Blue has a calming and cool effect. It is mostly associated with harmony, confidence, distance, infinity, cold and sadness. Because of its calming effect, blue works well in bedrooms.
I've read blue can bring down blood pressure, that's why it is considered calming and relaxing.
Dark blue has a different effect, it can cause sadness. Darker shades should be decorated with brighter colours and you will need more windows to make the room brighter.
So mix your blue rooms with warmer colours to avoid cold or sad mood. Use natural materials, wood, warm colours like pink, yellow and brown.
And now, let's see the 35 ideas for blue wall colour in home decoration!
